TourRoads is a free app for group road trips: riders on the same trip can share live location, chat, send status alerts, plan stops and split expenses. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and phone number. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile photo from Google.
- Emergency contact: the name and phone number of a person you choose, to be called if something happens to you on a ride. Please make sure they are happy for you to share it.
- Profile photo: only if you add one.
- Location: precise GPS location, only while you have turned on sharing for a trip. This includes background location, so sharing keeps working while the screen is off or you are using a navigation app. Sharing stops when you turn it off, when an auto-stop timer you chose runs out, or when you leave the trip.
- Trip content you create: trips, stops, chat messages and reactions, status alerts (for example "Need a break" or "Accident"), and expenses you log.
- Ride statistics: distance ridden, trips completed, places visited and achievements, calculated from your trip location history.
- Country: worked out on your device from your location, used only for the optional leaderboard.
- Device push token: so the app can send you notifications about your trips.
- Place searches: the text you type when searching for a destination.
2. How we use it
- To show your position to the other members of trips you share on, and to show theirs to you.
- To run group chat, status alerts, stop planning and expense splitting within a trip.
- To calculate ride distance, trip summaries and achievements.
- To send notifications about activity in your trips.
- To let trip admins contact members by phone for safety and coordination.
- To answer support requests.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your location for advertising.
3. Who can see your information
- Members of your trips: your name, photo, live location (only while you share), chat messages, status alerts and expenses in that trip.
- Trip admins: additionally, your phone number and emergency contact, for coordination and emergencies. Other riders cannot see them.
- Leaderboard (opt-in only): if you choose to join, other signed-in riders see your name, photo, country, trips completed and distance. You are not listed unless you join, and you can leave at any time.
4. Service providers we share data with
We use these companies to run the app. They process data on our behalf, only to provide their service:

We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. Advertising
The app may show banner ads. If an ad network is added, it may use your device's advertising ID, and this policy will be updated to name the provider. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your Android settings.
6. How long we keep data
- Account data is kept until you ask us to delete your account.
- Trip data (locations, chat, alerts, expenses) is kept while the trip exists. A trip admin can delete a trip, which removes its data for everyone.
- If you leave a trip, your live sharing and membership stop; messages and expenses you already added stay in the trip for the other members.
7. Your choices and rights
- Location: start or stop sharing any time on the trip screen, or remove the permission in your phone's settings.
- Notifications: turn them off in your phone's settings.
- Leaderboard: join or leave at any time.
- Access, correction or deletion: email tourroads@gmail.com from the email on your account and we will act on your request, including deleting your account and associated data.
8. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access is controlled per trip, so only members of a trip can read that trip's data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Children
TourRoads is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the "Last updated" date above.
